Development of a Danube Information System for the International Commission for the Protection of the Danube River (DANUBIS)
Objectives
Time frame 1999
- Development of an internal server for the support of the International Commission for the Protection of the Danube River (Delegates, Permanent Secretariat, Members of Expert Groups)
- Implementation of the technical and organisational facilities for training and support of users
- Implementation of an interdisciplinary database about measures for water supply, waste water treatment and protection of water resources and water bodies in the Danube River Basin countries (socio-economic aspects, emissions, water quality and ambient water quality)
- Definition of user requirements for cartographic software for the production of thematic maps
Time frame 2000 – 2003 (outlook)
- Extension of the spectrum of topics of the Danube Information System (e.g. traffic flow in the Danube corridor)
- Extension of the user group of the Danube Information System to organisations working in the field of environment
- Implementation of a geographical information system (GIS) for the Danube River Basin
